Ahhh December, one of my favorite months of the year! Christmas, my birthday, snow, and being able to live in sweatpants – what’s not to love?
For those who don’t know, Birchbox is a $10 monthly beauty subscription; and just like Ipsy, some months you love it and some months are bummers. (Side note: I was subscribed to Ipsy for the longest time and cancelled after I was getting repeat products. Not a bad subscription by any means, I just wasn’t using anything I got after a while.)
This month was fabulous, and quite honestly looked like one of the promo pictures used to lure people into the service. The box this month is absolutely adorable and will be used as either a gift box or to chuck important notes into. But more importantly the products inside were perfectly tailored to my liking this month.
Laura Mercier Setting Powder and Mini Fan Brush – I was absolutely shocked that I got this in my box! Normally I only dream of getting high-end or cool products like these in my subscriptions. More excitingly these are products that I will actually use, since I use setting powder every day and I ALWAYS need more brushes. I hate buying new brushes, so this little guy is a welcome addition. The setting powder is translucent, which can create a white cast in pictures but it should be great for every day wear.
Whish Shave Cream – This little tube of shaving cream will be perfect for long trips or when my skin is on the dry side. And it smells really good too; I got the acai grapefruit scent.
Kajal Visanti Extreme Rose Gold Eyeliner – This month we got to pick one of the samples in our boxes and I chose this. Very creamy and very long-lasting, however I wouldn’t categorize this as rose gold. In my opinion it’s a frosty light pink with champagne undertones, but it’s still beautiful and I will get a lot of use out of this.
Beauty Protector Protect and Oil – To be honest, I am a little unsure of this item. It’s a hair oil, but doesn’t say what kind of oil it is. Is it argan oil? Olive oil? Almond oil? What are you??? There’s no ingredient list on the bottle so I’m skeptical, but out of sheer curiosity I’ll give it a shot. If my hair falls out I’ll give you guys a heads up.
Embryolisse Lait-Creme Concentre – This is a teeny sample, but I can see myself really getting use out of this. This is a French moisturizer that seems to be great for layering underneath makeup. This dry weather is killing me, so any extra moisture is welcome to my skin.
Finally we also got $10 to spend at the GAP, which is pretty meh to me. I’m not a GAP person but I’ll check in and see if there is a scarf or tights I can grab. All in all this was a great box and I’m very happy; I’m glad that I’m getting products I can truly see myself using, instead of 3 or 4 items I half-heartedly try and give up. *Found my camera! Wooo!
